Shocking CCTV Footage: Last Moments Before Festus Oromo Fell From 14th Floor in Kilimani, Nairobi (2026)

Bold headline: A Shocking Night Unfolded—New CCTV Footage Reveals the Final Moments Before Festus Oromo Plunged from Kilimani’s 14th Floor

CCTV footage released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) reconstructs the events leading up to the fatal fall of 25-year-old Festus Oromo from Heartland Apartments in Kilimani, Nairobi. The video timeline shows Festus arriving at Room B1406 on the 14th floor at 4:12 pm. Just seven minutes later, a man whose identity is concealed by a scarf arrives with a brown bag, knocks on Festus’s door, and hands over the package before departing.

Around 9 hours later, at 1:06 a.m., a man later identified by the DCI as Patrick, who is in custody at Kilimani police station, exits the same apartment building. Dressed in a black hoodie and blue jeans, Patrick stays at the door for a minute, re-enters the room, and reappears seven minutes later in the company of Festus Oromo, leaving room B1406 together. The two are seen conversing and laughing; Patrick carries a drink as they move toward the building’s exit.

Moments afterward, Patrick returns alone, now wearing a black vest, shorts, and sandals, and heads toward the elevator. At 1:15 a.m., Festus returns to the apartment, knocks again, and moves toward the lift area before returning a minute later. Exactly one minute later, at 1:16 a.m., Festus re-enters the apartment.

Inside the apartment, CCTV captures a visible struggle between Festus and a woman identified by authorities as Lilian Mbeki. After this confrontation, Festus locks the door, and that is the last moment he is seen alive.

According to the surveillance footage, at 1:57 a.m. Festus’ lifeless body is seen landing on the roof of a white car on the ground floor of Heartland Apartments. Building security guards reported finding Festus unresponsive when they arrived, a detail corroborated by Kilimani detectives.

Investigators have since detained Lilian and Patrick, who remain in custody for 14 days as forensic analysis and additional inquiries proceed.

Festus Oromo’s body was transferred to the General Cargo Mortuary by his family, following arrangements with the Nairobi Funeral Home, as investigations continue.

Police revealed that Festus had checked into Room B1406 with Lilian, a 48-year-old woman he reportedly met on Tinder. The motive for the incident has not been disclosed, but police say the apartment was treated as a crime scene and that the altercation occurred just before the fatal fall.

Public safety advisory for the festive season

Kenya’s police and the DCI have issued warnings about heightened crime risks during holiday gatherings. Citizens are urged to avoid overcrowded, unregulated venues and to ensure events have licensed security personnel present. The public is advised not to meet strangers in private spaces and to prefer well-lit, public locations while informing friends of one’s plans.

Authorities caution against drink spiking, a rising criminal tactic used to incapacitate victims before robbery. Attendees should monitor their drinks, avoid accepting beverages from strangers, and stay in groups.

The advisory also emphasizes responsible celebration: safety remains the priority. Party hosts are reminded to comply with safety laws, including proper crowd management and ensuring clear emergency exits. Moderation is encouraged, as excessive alcohol can impair judgment and increase risk of theft, assault, or accidents.

If any suspicious behavior is observed, report it immediately to 999 or the DCI hotline.
