Big news for country music fans in Terre Haute! Rob Creighton is taking over the afternoon airwaves on Hi 99 (WTHI-FM), bringing his signature style and years of experience to the Midwest Communications family. But here's where it gets interesting: Creighton isn't just stepping into the role of afternoon host—he's also diving into the programming department, a move that could shape the station's sound in exciting new ways.
Creighton’s journey to Hi 99 is a story of versatility and growth. Most recently, he served as the Director of Content at Townsquare Media in Sedalia, MO, while also hosting afternoons on AC station Mix 92.3 (KSDL) until April. His departure from Townsquare (as reported by RadioInsight) marked the end of a chapter that began in April 2019, when he joined the company after a similar stint in the Quad Cities.
But this isn’t Creighton’s first rodeo in radio leadership. He spent six years as the Operations Manager and Program Director for Ramar Communications’ KLZK/KXTQ in Lubbock, TX, and has programmed stations like WSHP in Lafayette, IN, WVIC in Lansing, MI, and WRXQ in Joliet, IL. His diverse background raises a bold question: How will his blend of small-town and major-market experience influence Hi 99’s programming?
And this is the part most people miss: Creighton’s dual role as host and programming assistant could create a unique synergy between on-air content and behind-the-scenes strategy. Will this approach redefine the listener experience? Only time will tell.
What’s your take? Do you think Creighton’s multifaceted role will elevate Hi 99, or is it too much for one person to handle? Let us know in the comments—we’re all ears!
