We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Miles Ludlow Carpenter, a beloved father, husband, and friend, who left us on January 7, 2026. His life, though now at an end, was a rich tapestry of experiences and connections that will forever leave an imprint on those who knew him.
Miles, born in Oakville, NB, and raised in Marysville, was the son of Perley and Rheta Carpenter. He attended FHS and later pursued his BBA at the University of South Florida in Tampa, returning to Fredericton to begin his career with the provincial government.
It was in 1972 that Miles' life took a turn towards love and family. He met his soulmate, Fernande Robichaud, and their lives intertwined beautifully. They married shortly after their first date, embarking on a journey of 48 wonderful years together. Their union was a testament to the power of love and companionship, and even after Fernande's passing five years ago, their legacy continued to inspire.
Miles and Fernande dedicated their lives to service and community. Volunteering, church activities, and various organizations were an integral part of their lives. Miles' involvement with Scouting, the Knights of Columbus, and numerous committees showcased his commitment to making a positive impact. Upon retiring from the government, he established a consulting company, allowing him more time to pursue his passions, including genealogy.
His interest in genealogy led him on a fascinating journey of discovery. Miles spent countless hours researching his family tree, writing two books, and organizing family reunions. He was a true historian, preserving the stories and memories of his ancestors for future generations.
But here's where it gets personal: Miles was a man of diverse interests and a deep love for life. He found joy in the simple pleasures - gardening, fishing, hunting, reading, and woodworking. However, what brought him the most happiness was spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife, and his grandsons. His grandsons, Jake and Riley, and their families, including great-granddaughters Oaklynn, Vallie, and Daphne, were the light of his life.
Miles is survived by his loving children, Michelle Dore and Jamie Carpenter, and their spouses, Brent and Jennifer. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a family tree that continues to grow. He was predeceased by his parents, Perley and Rheta, his wife, Fernande, and his brothers, Johnny, Murray, and Terry. Miles' memory will also be cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many friends he made throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, from 1-4 PM at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd. A Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Bill Brennan, will take place on Monday, January 12th, at 11 AM, at Holy Family Parish Church, 1500 Hanwell Road. A private family burial will follow at a later date.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at York Care, Dixon, for their compassionate care during Miles' final years. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Miles' memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and community service.
Miles' life was a testament to the beauty of human connections and the impact we can have on the world. His passing leaves a void, but his memory will forever be a guiding light for those who loved him. Rest in peace, Miles. You will be deeply missed.
