The Six Billion Dollar Man: Julian Assange and the Price of Truth, directed by Eugene Jarecki, is positioned as an Oscar-contending examination of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. As of now, Assange has accepted a plea deal with U.S. authorities, pleading guilty to a single count under the Espionage Act. Seventeen other charges were dropped, and prosecutors indicated no further prison time beyond the plea. His prior detention related to bail conditions and asylum in London’s Ecuadorian Embassy is a significant part of the broader legal narrative surrounding the case.
