Elsewhere, Francesca Jones began her season with a significant win, defeating Emma Navarro, the No. 15 seed, in the first round of the Auckland Open. Jones, who has steadily climbed the rankings to her current position of No. 72, had never previously defeated a player ranked within the top 40.
And this is the part most people miss... The performance of players like Harris and Jones, in contrast to Raducanu's struggles, highlights the unpredictable nature of tennis and the importance of consistent preparation and form.
