Disney's Hollywood Studios is undergoing a dramatic transformation, and the latest development has fans divided! The iconic MuppetVision 3D attraction is being stripped of its brick facade, making way for a new era of Monstropolis. But is this change a thrilling evolution or a controversial move?
The construction walls have advanced further into the Muppets Courtyard, soon to be renamed Monstropolis, as workers diligently remove the bricks from the building's exterior. This shift has caused a noticeable change in the area's layout, with the walls now extending into Grand Avenue and the gelato stand relocating across from the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant.
Our previous update revealed the initial stages of brick removal, and now the process is in full swing. The facade above the main entrance is almost entirely devoid of bricks, with crew members diligently working from a lift. Green markings on the left side of the building hint at the planned extent of the brick removal, leaving fans to speculate on the final design.
The concept art for the Monsters, Inc. land promises a blend of brick and a grand marquee. The current brick removal might be a necessary step to accommodate this new addition. Additionally, the boxes atop the theater are being dismantled, with one already removed and the other stripped to its frame.
But here's where it gets controversial: The Muppets, beloved by many, are making way for a new theme. While the Muppets will return to the park this summer with a Rock 'n' Roller Coaster takeover, their original home is undergoing a significant change. This has sparked mixed emotions among fans, with some excited for the new Monsters, Inc. land and others mourning the loss of the classic MuppetVision 3D.
